Join us on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm for Beginner/Intermediate Introduction to Improvisation in Bluegrass (Guitar & Mandolin) with Abe Goorskey and Scott Patrick. Cost is $25.

Abe Goorskey and Scott Patrick will provide a brief introduction of how improvisation applies to bluegrass music and show you how to incorporate improvisational playing into your song repertoire. Using mandolin and guitar, Scott and Abe will discuss melodic and improvised approaches to songs and tunes, and how to use both approaches with ease.

Abe Goorskey

Abe first discovered acoustic music at The Floyd Country Store as a teenager. He learned to play from local musicians Bernie Coveney and Mike Mitchell and has gone on to perform and record with many bands and groups since. He currently plays with the folk/bluegrass group Amber Collins & Branch House Pavilion, as well as Lynchburg based acoustic band Good Buddy. Abe also teaches private mandolin lessons at The Floyd Country Store.

Scott Patrick

Scott has been playing guitar for 22 years and is an avid songwriter. He has song credits with several professional bluegrass acts including Mike Bentley of Grasstowne, Darin & Brooke Aldridge Band, and Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome. He currently performs with a trio called Branch House along with mandolin extraordinaire, Abe Goorskey and Amber Collins (formerly of No Speed Limit).
