The Floyd Country Store’s Handmade Music School and Southern Mountain Melodies are offering a one day workshop for clawhammer banjo and guitar led by Andy Buckman, Mac Traynham, and Jenny Traynham. The class takes place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm at The Floyd Country Store.

Andy Buckman: beginner/intermediate clawhammer banjo. For those who have minimal experience in playing the banjo in the clawhammer style (without picks). Students will learn about how to tune and how to apply basic right and left hand techniques while learning a couple of local dance tunes.

Mac Traynham: intermediate/advanced clawhammer banjo. For those players who feel like they have mastered the basics of the clawhammer style and have a desire to play on a higher level. Tunes that employ advanced right and left hand techniques will be introduced. Learn what it takes to be a driving force in an Old Time Jam.

Jenny Traynham: old-time guitar. For those players who can easily change basic chords and have a desire to enhance their general back-up playing skills. Interesting bass runs and other techniques will be taught.

Cost is $85. Lunch at the Floyd Country Store is included.
