Join us on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm for an Old Time Bass from Scratch Workshop with Joebass. Cost is $25.

This two hour workshop is for anyone who is interested in old time stringbass. No previous experience is necessary, but a general familiarity with southern old time music is helpful. The Bass is the most fun to play and the least fun to carry. This workshop will start with basics – how to take the bass in and out of it’s case, how to hold the bass, how to store the bass and basic right and left hand technique for a long and happy life driving the rhythm of a good old time dance band. There will be a fiddler present for the second half of our class and we’ll go from zero to fun quickly. You’ll be playing your first tunes on the bass by the end of the night. Please bring a bass and be ready for big fun. There are two extra basses at the Floyd Country store available for use if you’d like to try out a bass for the first time but don’t have one to bring to class. These are available first come first serve, so please send us a note and sign up now! I’m also OK if you’d like to come with a friend and share a bass. The class will conclude with a Q&A about bass setup, and advice for purchasing an affordable instrument.

Joseph DeJarnette is Studio Director of Floyd Creative Studios. He is a studio owner, performer and teacher. He has toured internationally and worked in the studio with award-winning artists.
